New SMT Rework Tweezer provides precision control

Nov 27, 2007

OK International has introduced the MX-PTZ Precision Tweezer hand-piece for the Metcal MX-500 Soldering/Rework System. Using SmartHeat® Technology, manual SMT rework is achieved with improved ergonomics and precision thermal control.

Soldering cartridges for the MX-PTZ Precision Tweezer are available in a variety of sizes for reworking both discreet and SOIC components. The MX-PTZ reduces the stress on PCBs during rework operations without damaging the package. The Precision Tweezer thermally applies heat to the end caps of the devices while mechanically gripping the component during removal for more efficient rework.

Powered by OK International's SmartHeat® Technology, the MX-PTZ is able to meet the optimum thermal demand required for efficient rework without compromising the package. Completely eliminating stress and thermal over shoot, the new Precision Tweezer hand-piece's lightweight and ergonomic design also delivers a distinct usability and accuracy advantage. Featuring a double-sided pivot for true tweezer action, the MX-PTZ's dual position pitch adjustment allows the operator to precisely target the required component to skilfully complete the application.

Other benefits of the MX-PTZ include a fully adjustable tip alignment for both height and rotation to ensure excellent co-planarity of tip cartridges. The new hand-piece also features a dual pitch position switch enabling easy adjustment of pincer action, and quick change tip cartridges with keyway to prevent mis-alignment.
