Marvell picks Teradyne Tiger
Jul 09, 2003
Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE:TER) announced Marvell (R) has purchased multiple Tiger systems for testing Hard Disk SOC devices. Marvell made the selection because of the production economics and performance headroom that Tiger provides over other alternatives. The win for Teradyne in the competitive selection process extends its leading share in the storage market space and strengthens Tiger's position as an industry leading SOC platform. The Tiger systems will be used for engineering at Marvell and high-volume manufacturing at multiple semiconductor subcontractors. "The Tiger platform offers Marvell the flexibility and scalability required to test our high pin count SOCs," said Albert Wu, Marvell's Vice President of Operations. "Teradyne also provides the headroomrequired to test future SOCs, which incorporate PRML, digital and Serial ATA technology. Their commitment to the storage market makes Teradyne a good fit for Marvell's ATE needs." "By building an SOC tester from the ground up instead of adding instruments to a digital system, Teradyne has demonstrated our commitment to customers with outstanding technology," said Dave McAninch, Marketing Manager for Teradyne's Data Storage and Communications Unit. "Working closely with disk IC makers like Marvell, Teradyne brings fourth generation PRML waveform instruments and a relentless drive to increase throughput and lower capital cost. It's this balance of technology and economics that has been very successful in the new consumer semiconductor market." Source: PCBnewsline
