KIC to highlight profiling systems at Forum de l'Electronique 2007

Sep 10, 2007

KIC will display the KIC Explorer thermal profiler and KIC Vision automatic profiler in distributor Cominec sas's booth, located in Hall 7.2, Booth V87 at the upcoming Forum de l'Electronique show, scheduled to take place September 25-27, 2007 at the Expo, Porte de Versailles in Paris, France.

KIC Explorer is a new generation of thermal profiler that features an impressively compact design and moves easily through the restrictive process dimensions encountered in today's thermal applications. It incorporates state-of-the-art SMT technology and high-temperature rated components, backed by KIC's distinguished reputation for reliability. Customers can depend on this rugged, innovative profiler to endure the harsh conditions of real-world factory use.

As a standard feature, the KIC Explorer has 12 thermocouples to meet necessary requirements. The ingenious miniature-TC harness design makes this possible, and it is less expensive than using a standard Type-K thermocouple.

Acquiring more data in a small unit is only the beginning. The KIC Explorer provides the highest sampling rate available, greater memory capacity and superior data precision. Thermal profile data are conveniently transferred to the user's computer via a USB connection.

KIC Vision, an automatic profiling system, is designed for those customers who want to eliminate the manual tasks associated with periodic profiling for their reflow ovens. Although such profiling has been important for production quality as well as process documentation, many electronics manufacturers are burdened by the negative effects of such manual tasks. These negatives include interruption to the production flow, expense in terms of labor and material (profilers, thermocouples, "golden boards," etc.), error-prone measurements, and the fact that infrequent profiling makes for poor quality control.

Priced comparative to a manual profiler, the easy-to-use KIC Vision provides the best of both worlds - It runs in the background continuously and automatically, and it provides sought-after profiles as frequently as once an hour. The system relies on embedded sensors in the reflow oven and the proven Virtual Profiling software to accurately measure the product profile. The extremely cost-effect KIC Vision now makes automatic profiling accessible to most electronics manufacturers large and small. It is time to put Vision into the reflow oven.
