Pillarhouse introduces the Jade selective soldering system
Sep 18, 2007
Pillarhouse's Jade selective soldering system can be supplied with a topside pre-heating option that can be used to pre-heat a thermally challenging board. The system uses four fast response, medium wavelength infrared lamps that are individually controlled, allowing for the correct number of lamps needed to heat the size of the board being processed.
After the top side pre-heater has been enabled, the lamps can be tested using a diagnostics function. This function allows the user to turn individual lamps on and off and also control their power to the lamps.
As an additional option, a thermocouple fixed to one of the board securing arms can also be used to provide "closed loop" control where the program "target temperature" can heat the board under ramp rate control and maintain the temperature during the soak period.
The "target temperature" can be adjusted and is the temperature at which the top side of the board will be held during the soaking period. The "ramp rate" control determines the maximum allowable rate at which the board will be allowed to heat from the ambient temperature to the "target temperature".
When using the closed loop system, the user can decide either to use a cooling timer, or a temperature setting from the board to unlock the lid and allow handling of the board. Selection boxes then allow for this procedure and either the "cooling time" or "cool temperature" controls will be enabled. The user can decide not to use the closed loop option for a particular program in which the "open loop" parameter screens will be displayed.
