Jul 17, 2007
Semiconductor equipment manufacturers expect sales to grow 1 percent in 2007, making it the second-largest year ever for sales of new equipment, according to Semi Capital Equipment, an industry trade group.
The midyear report projects the equipment market to grow to $40.91 billion from $40.47 billion in 2006.
The consensus forecast indicates that the market could grow by 7 percent to $43.58 billion in 2008, and by 4 percent to $45.51 billion in 2009, according to Semi.
Semiconductor equipment suppliers saw strong sales surpassing $40 billion last year and expect to reach similar sales levels this year, driven by continued investment in 300 millimeter technology and growing investment in 45 nanometer.
