Toray-DuPont to build new facility
Jun 25, 2003
DuPont Electronic Technologies has announced plans to expand its DuPont Kapton polyimide film manufacturing facility with Toray-DuPont Company, its joint venture with Toray Industries, Japan. The new facility will add a fourth production line for Kapton to serve the rapidly growing flexible circuit industry in the region. The expansion will be adjacent to the existing Toray-DuPont manufacturing site for Kapton in Tokai City, Japan. Construction will begin in June, with commercial production scheduled to begin by early 2005. The new production line will increase annual output of Kapton by 60% from the current 1100 tons. Toray-DuPont production of Kapton in Japan began in 1985 with a single manufacturing line. A second line was added in 1989 and the third in 1998.DuPont believes that the expansion is a tangible example of its commitment to regional customers by investing in the local production and distribution of Kapton polyimide film, versus importing it from outside the area.Source: PCBnewsline
