Fiat selects Tecnomatix eMPower as standard tolerance management tool

Leading Italian automaker uses manufacturing process management to lower costsTecnomatix Technologies Ltd has announced that long-time customer Fiat Auto S.p.A. will implement eMPower products to maintain high levels of quality assurance and improve their process validation. eM-TolMate is said to allow manufacturing engineers to predict the effect of tolerances and mating operations on an assembly process. It identifies key characteristics and critical features of an assembly--such as the gap between a door and the fender of a car, or the flushness of an airplane wing. eM-TolMate calculates the variations in these characteristics and the contribution of tolerances to these variations. Simulation and analysis tools help deliver optimal tolerances for manufacturing and assembly. Fiat is reported to have chosen Tecnomatix eMPower based on its solid reputation and the ease-of-use of its tolerance management products.The company believes that eM-Tolmate will help it to lower costs in its production facilities and decrease the time it takes to produce vehicles.Source: PCBnewsline
