Quanta Storage reportedly to ship digital photo frames to Philips
Jun 12, 2007
Quanta Storage, the largest maker of slim-type optical disc drives (ODDs) in Taiwan, has reportedly obtained OEM orders for digital photo frames (DPFs) from Philips, with shipments to begin in the fourth quarter of this year, according to the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) newspaper.
Lead Data, a second-tier maker of optical discs in Taiwan, is currently a main OEM maker of DPFs for Philips, the paper indicated. Philips, however, has placed OEM orders for its newly developed third-generation DPFs with Quanta Storage, making the company its second Taiwan-based OEM maker, the paper noted.
Quanta declined to comment on the news, indicating that it has engaged in R&D of DPFs and but has not yet begun shipments, the paper noted.
