Reed Exhibitions to acquire Componex - India's Leading Electronics Manufacturing Event

Reed Exhibitions has announced the acquisition of India's leading event for Electronics manufacturing, Componex, from Electronics Today Magazine.
From 2008 the event will be branded as Componex/Nepcon, signifying that the event will benefit from membership of Reed Exhibitions' global electronics portfolio joining some of the industry's most well known events; Nepcon Shanghai & Nepcon Shenzen, Globaltronics Singapore, and Nepcon UK. Componex/Nepcon will continue to address both the production equipment and components elements of the global market.
In addition to acquiring Componex, Reed has also today signed a multi-year sponsorship deal with Mr S. Swarn, CEO & Editor in Chief of India's leading publication for the electronics industry, Electronics Today. Under the agreement Electronics Today will continue its association with Componex by providing exclusive support and endorsement to Componex/Nepcon India, further guaranteeing the continued success of the event in the future.
Componex/Nepcon 2008 will again take place in New Delhi's Pragati Maidan exhibition centre from 20-22 February 2008 and will be organised by Reed Exhibitions' wholly-owned business in Delhi.
In recent years India has emerged alongside China as one of world's hottest destinations for electronics manufacturing, with local manufacturers experiencing rapid growth and many multinationals setting up major production facilities attracted by India's highly educated workforce.
Indian electronics production value has seen double digit growth and significant FDI by global players and contract manufacturers. The production value of the electronics sector in India grew to US$7.6 billion in 2006. India today has over 3,000 electronics manufacturing companies as well as some 300 design houses employing 4,000 design engineers.
