Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Global Conference 2007

The Indian Institute of Science Alumni Association of North America (IISc AANA) announced today that it will be conducting a unique gathering of pre-eminent scientists, engineers and executives from India and the US, Nobel Laureates, and industry movers and shakers is about to take place in Silicon Valley on June 22-24, 2007.
Having been founded in 1908 by the great industrialist JN Tata, the Institute will be celebrating its 100 years of accomplishments all throughout 2008-09. The details of the event can be found at the website http://conference.iiscaana.org.
The President of India, His Excellency, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is scheduled to inaugurate the conference via a video address. The conference will then rev up with four serial panel sessions on: Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Life Sciences, Management of Technology, and Education for Innovation and Sustainable Development.
Building on that bed rock strength of scientific talent, IISc has also generated an initial momentum of high value added applied research that has been a key differentiator. Already many companies have sponsored research projects at IISc are such global giants as Intel, GM, Lockheed, Boeing, Monsanto, and Applied Materials. Many more such research partnerships are in the works.
The conference will then swing into high gear of discussion sessions to accomplish the goal of creating a platform for collaboration between IISc, the UC system, and the industry. There will be six parallel highly interactive sessions on: Knowledge Sciences, Information - Communication - Computers and Technology, Bio-Technology and Health Care, Nanotechnology and Materials, Energy and the Environment, and Aerospace and Automotive Technologies.
