Quanta Computer raised its notebook shipment target for 2007 to 27-28 million units from the 25 million units projected previously, company president Michael Wang said at the company's annual shareholders meeting last week.
Driven by Intel's recently launched Santa Rose notebook platform and Microsoft's Windows Vista OS (operating system), Quanta's notebook shipments are expected to top 14-15 million units in the second half of this year, compared to 13 million units projected for the first half, according to company sources.
In addition, Quanta is also planning to expand its production to include electronic medical equipment with related R&D projects now being implemented by the company, Wang told shareholders.
