Innolux reported to have installed solar cell facilities at its production base

Innolux Display has installed solar cell facilities at its production base to promote environmental protection, according to company president Hsing C Tuan, as quoted by the Chinese-language Apple Daily.

Although the costs of using solar power for its base are currently high at US$7-8 per watt, the move is relatively helpful to reducing the greenhouse effect, Tuan was cited as noting, adding that related costs will be further reduced in the future.

Tuan indicated he is not yet familiar with the business model of the solar cell industry but said if the maker enters the segment, it would start by manufacturing back-end solar cell modules, the paper reported.
