Dell orders to boost Wistron shipments but not revenues in 2007
Mar 14, 2007
Though Wistron surprisingly received orders from Dell for two consumer-based notebooks in 2007, the orders will not greatly affect the company's revenues due to the relatively low unit price, according to market sources in Taiwan. Dell transferred an order for 1.80 million units of 14.1-inch notebooks from Quanta to Wistron in the fourth quarter of 2006 with the notebook scheduled to launch in the second quarter of 2007. Another order for two million 15.4-inch notebooks was not confirmed until February of 2007, but since the order is for notebooks based on the older Napa platform, the unit price is relatively low and so will not contribute much to Wistron's profits. Dell's total order of 3.8 million units from Wistron will help boost Wistron's shipments to over 12 million notebooks for 2007, according to the sources. source: DigiTimes
