Acer may acquire Gateway, say sources

While J.T. Wang, Acer's chairman and chief executive, recently said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that the company hopes to make an acquisition this year, industry sources indicated that the company is actually targeting US-based Gateway for the merger.

Acer is looking at some candidates which the company wants to pick up, Wang said in the interview, however, he declined to name possible targets.
