Eurocircuits - booth J50

Eurocircuits online PCB services - more choices under one umbrella

Eurocircuits.com online PCB manufacturers are using Nepcon to launch the second major upgrade to their services for 2007. Already well-known for their fast, low-cost order pooling services, Eurocircuits have now integrated high-specification non-pooled boards into their online services.

The new "On Demand" service means that customers can request prices and place orders online for boards up to 16 layers using the same streamlined menu structure that was recently rolled out for the pooling services. Eurocircuits now offer a three-tier online service for prototype and small-series PCBs: the Verified pooling service for standard technology boards up to 6 layers; the A la Carte pooling service with a wide choice of materials and surface finishes on boards up to 8 layers; and the non-pooling On Demand service offering up to 16 layers with full UL release. Deliveries for all services start from 3 days.

For the pooling services the new user interface offers instant pricing and ordering backed by clear notes, an automatic technology calculator and a new fast-response Q&A section. For the On Demand service, Eurocircuits' CAM engineers confirm the manufacturability of the job before quotation to ensure that the job can be completed on time and without surprises.

New for the 2007 pooling services, lead-free hot-air levelling (HAL) is available as a surface-finish alongside immersion silver and electroless nickel-gold (ENIG). For many prototype users the surface finish does not matter; what they need is a fast delivery and a low price. For these designers Eurocircuits have added an extra surface-finish option "Any leadfree". Eurocircuits themselves pick the surface-finish for the job which gives the best utilisation of the pooling panels on the day - and so the lowest price.

EVS International - Booth G52

EVS International, the leader in solder recovery, announces that it will showcase the EVS 1000 solder recovery system in Parkheath Ltd.'s booth G52 at the upcoming Nepcon exhibition and conference scheduled to take place May 15 to 17, 2007 at the Birmingham NEC in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

The EVS 1000 is a smaller, lighter version of the popular EVS 3000/6000, with all of the recovery performance of the standard and lead-free solder units. The smaller size and footprint help reduce the cost, but still provide a capacity of 10lb/5kg of dross, giving a rapid payback and impressive return on capital employed.

The EVS 1000 can quickly convert waste dross into pure solder in minutes not hours, while improving the wave solder machine process. This provides a cleaner wave with less maintenance, less downtime, and a reduction in shorts and bridging as well as the potential to discontinue the use of messy wave oils and/or dross reduction powders.

The EVS 1000 is aimed at small to medium users who typically have one to three wave solder machines and who must regularly dedross or use nitrogen to reduce drossing. This group currently comprises the majority of users in the industry. By using the EVS, nitrogen can be dramatically reduced or eliminated, resulting in significant cost savings.

The EVS 1000 will vastly increase EVS International's coverage of the wave solder marketplace and should revolutionize its total market penetration. For more information, visit EVS at Nepcon UK or visit www.solderrecovery.com

KIC - Booth B41

KIC to showcase KIC Vision - A low-cost automatic profiling system

KIC will exhibit KIC Vision, an Automatic Profiling System, in distributor Link Hamson Ltd.'s booth B41 at the upcoming Nepcon exhibition and conference scheduled to take place May 15 to 17, 2007 at the Birmingham NEC in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

This low-cost system is designed for those customers that want to eliminate the manual tasks associated with periodic profiling for their reflow ovens.  Although such profiling has been important for production quality as well as process documentation, many electronics manufacturers are burdened by the negative effects of such manual tasks. These negatives include interruption to the production flow, expense in terms of labor and material (profilers, thermocouples, "golden boards," etc.), error-prone measurements, and the fact that infrequent profiling makes for poor quality control.

Priced comparative to a manual profiler, the easy-to-use KIC Vision provides the best of both worlds  It runs in the background continuously and automatically, and it provides sought-after profiles as frequently as once an hour.  The system relies on embedded sensors in the reflow oven and the proven Virtual Profiling software to accurately measure the product profile. After a baseline profile, the product profile is automatically measured and logged in the computer without any further manual input.  The measured profile data includes all pertinent process data such as peak temperature, soak, fit to process window and more.  The user may select the frequency of the automatic profiling from one profile in per hour increments up to once a week time slots, in one-hour intervals.  KIC Vision reduces production downtime, recovers labor time resources and significantly improves product quality.

The extremely cost-effect KIC Vision now makes automatic profiling accessible to most electronics manufacturers large and small.  It is time to put Vision into the reflow oven.

PCB-POOL - Booth M44

PCB-POOL introduces a new Realtime serice:

Watch ur PCB: online production monitoring of your board

A clever use of internet resources is enabling customers to track their orders online.

With more than 18000 clients, PCB-POOL is the largest prototype PCB manufacturer in Europe. Month after month some 200 new clients are using this service, and quality is drawing them there. One of the most popular services was the order-tracking possibilities offered by the site. Now 18 months of intense development have resulted in:

Not only are customers informed of the progress of the order, but they can now remotely follow each stage of manufacture. By accessing their online account they can see high-resolution images of the drilling, exposure, tin stripping, UV curing and Hot Air Levelling steps that their boards have just undergone.

These images are exact reproductions of the boards that the customer will receive. In the case of an unforeseen error the customer is now forewarned long before he has the finished article in his hand. Beta-Layout can be notified of this and remedial steps can be taken such as sending new files in order to get a new production started immediately.

If the boards are just what the customer was expecting then they can already begin planning component-mounting without fear of finding a nasty surprise!

Watch ur PCB can also send customers these images in zip files, and if requested the customer can be informed by email of the availability of the latest images online. The client can oversee manufacture in a really integral way as well as archiving each image for future reference.

Solder Connection - Stand  F46

Vision releases the new X6 super long distance magnification for the Elite stereoscope

NEW X6 Super Long Working Distance (SLWD) Provides Greater Working Distance for Rework and Inspection Tasks.

The Mantis Elite from Vision Engineering now benefits from an accessory that will give operators maximum working distance for manipulation tasks like rework.

The Mantis stereo inspection system from Vision Engineering is used worldwide for the inspection and manipulation of PCBs. The expanded eyepiece (patented) technology gives users an extremely comfortable ergonomic advantage, especially when inspecting PCBs for long periods. With greater emphasis of health and safety management systems such as ISO 14001, the ‘eyepieceless' Mantis ticks all the boxes for operator comfort.

The NEW x6 objective lens does what is says and provides operators with a super long working distance. This is designed to provide a solution to operators that require magnification during manipulation tasks. Traditionally, it can be quite challenging to use a higher magnification lens when manipulating samples due to the lack of working space or distance, which is often restrictive. With a standard x6 objective lens, working distances vary with each system. However, with the new x6 SLWD objective you can expect to achieve an incredible 112mm of working distance on the Mantis Elite.

Manipulation tasks vary between applications but the more common manipulation tasks include reworking on printed circuit boards (PCBs), especially where small boards with tight tracks need re-soldering.

The x6SLWD objective is supplied with a Fresnel lens which focuses the LED illumination onto the subject so that the illumination is maximised even with the x6SLWD.
