9.7% increase for European semiconductor market

Sales amount to $2.5 billion in AprilWSTS has released its latest findings which have revealed that European Semiconductor sales amounted to US$ 2.503 billion in April 2003. This corresponds to a +9.7% increase compared to the same month last year. Year-to-date, semiconductor sales increased by +11.1% versus the same period last year. Monthly sequential growth (i.e. April compared to March) was -0.3%. The exchange rate of the Euro compared to the US$ has had a very significant impact on the growth data. Semiconductor sales in April were EURO 2.316 billion, a decline of -11.0% versus the same month a year ago. On a year-to-date basis, semiconductor sales decreased by -9.2% versus the same period last year. Monthly sequential growth in April was -1.0%.On a worldwide basis, semiconductor sales in April were US$ 12.142 billion, a +9.7% growth versus the same month a year ago. On a monthly sequential basis, this corresponds to an increase of +-0% and on a year-to-date basis to a growth of +11.8%.Source: PCBnewsline
