Dec 12, 2002

Elcoteq has joined Symbian's Platinum Partner Program. This will assist Elcoteq to design mobile hand sets based on the Symbian Operating System. The agreement will significantly increase the ability of Elcoteq's Design Center in Salo, Finland, to design smartphones."This partnership agreement strengthens Elcoteq Design Center's technology platforms. The deal enables us to supplement our own strong product design competencies with open-architecture products like those of Symbian. Very soon we will be able to offer customers a total design solution for technically very demanding terminal devices, backed up by Elcoteq's manufacturing services," says Mr Markku Leinonen, Vice President, Elcoteq Design Center.Symbian designs, develops and licenses an open operating system called Symbian OS for mobile phones. Symbian is jointly owned by Ericsson, Nokia, Matsushita (Panasonic), Motorola, Psion, Siemens and Sony Ericsson.
