IPC-7351 LP Wizard wins 2007 DesignVision Award
Feb 08, 2007
The IPC-7351 LP Wizard, a tool created by PCB Libraries, Inc., has won the 2007 DesignVision Award (PCB Design Tool category), at DesignCon 2007. The tool was selected based on innovation, uniqueness, market impact, customer benefits, and value to society. The LP Wizard is described as the solution to the major concerns of PCB design: accuracy, timeliness, and portability of data. The LP Wizard increases speed and accuracy of designs by automating calculations and library part creation. It also makes it very easy to migrate from one CAD tool to another. This tool greatly reduces the time it takes to build library parts and ensures compatibility with the latest IPC land pattern standard for surface mount design. The Wizard allows designers to view electronic library documentation using a dynamic search engine that can find the correct part quickly, calculate land patterns directly from component manufacturer dimensional datasheets, and output CAD library parts 10 to 20 times faster than any existing CAD tool with unmatched accuracy. The output is provided in virtually any CAD format. The LP Wizard also comes with 3,000 IPC-7351A CAD library parts and one year of maintenance. "By automating a large part of the design process, we eliminated a lot of duplication of effort and countless possibilities for human error," said Nick Ban, vice president at PCB Libraries, Inc. "The user response has been very positive. The LP software has become a valuable tool for thousands of users all over the world." For more information about the tool, visit www.PCBLibraries.com
