Compal notebook shipments hit record in December

Compal Electronics shipped a company record of 1.78 million notebooks in December, with revenues for the month also hitting a record NT$35.92 billion (US$1.1 billion), according to the company.

Strong demand from Acer and Dell drove up Compal's shipments and revenues in December, beating both the company's and the market's expectations that seasonality would reduce the notebook maker's shipments for the month, company sources indicated.
