Jan 09, 2007
Choi Ji Sung, president at Samsung Electronics Digital Media Division, said at a press conference on January 7 (local time) prior to the opening of CES 2007 in the U.S.A that Samsung Electronics will firm up its unmatched No. 1 place in the worldwide TV market by ranking first in CTV, LCD TV and FPTV revenues and shipment volume this year, as it did last year. The Korean giant's target flat TV shipments is 13.50 million units, up 6 million units from 7.5 million units last year, raising the possibility that flat TVs will outstrip projection TVs and flat-screen CRTs in terms of both revenues and shipments for the first time this year. It plants to strengthen its No. 1 position further in advanced markets such as the U.S. and Europe, while placing its focus on taking the initiative in the flat television market in emerging markets such as BRICs.
