CTS awarded production program for seat belt tension sensors
Jan 18, 2007
CTS Corporation (NYSE:CTS) announced that CTS Automotive Products was awarded a production program by a Korean based vehicle manufacturer for its Seat Belt Tension Sensor (BTS). With production starting in the spring of 2007, the CTS Seat Belt Tension Sensor will be integrated in seat belt assemblies for small SUVs built in Mexico for sale in North America. Sales are estimated to reach $5 million over the life of this new program. CTS will manufacture the BTS units at its Elkhart, Indiana facility. Introduced in 2003, CTS' Seat Belt Tension Sensor is currently featured on 35 platforms. The BTS provides a key input signal to a vehicle's Occupant Classification System, which classifies front passenger-side occupants and selects the airbag deployment strategy. "We're delighted with this opportunity," commented Tyler Buchanan, Senior Vice President, CTS Corporation. "This is a new customer for us, and it adds another product line to our Korean sales. We are well on our way to meeting our goal of doubling our automotive sales to Asia by 2009."
