ECS may ship 600,000 DeskNotes in 2003

Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) expects to ship 600,000 DeskNotes in 2003, compared to about 400,000 last year, according to sources. Two-thirds of the shipments this year are predicted to be low-priced models using Transmeta processors.Separately, ECS expects to launch its first Transmeta notebook in May or June. The notebook, equipped with a 14.1-inch TFT LCD screen, is set to target the low-priced market with a price of around NT$25,000, sources said.Thanks to increased orders from Europe, ECS shipped 30,000 Wintel notebooks in April, up from 10,000-20,000 units per month earlier, sources said.Source: DigiTimes
