Geotest ships pulse generators to U.S. Navy

May 13, 2003

Geotest-Marvin Test Systems, Inc., has announced that it has begun shipping its GP1552WR pulse generator to the U.S. Navy. The Navy are reported to have approached Geotest in late 2001 regarding an immediate obsolescence replacement requirement for a programmable pulse generator. Escalating maintenance and repair costs, coupled with long timeframes for their outdated Wavetek 859 equipment forced the Navy to seek alternative solutions. The contract for Geotest’s GP1552WR was awarded in fall, 2002. The U.S. Navy initially plans to use the GP1552WR in their AN/USM 484 testers, which are deployed worldwide in support of their F/A-18 aircraft. The Navy is also currently testing Geotest’s GP1650 series of arbitrary waveform generators.
