IPC, SOLDERTEC address hot lead free topics
May 13, 2003
With the EU’s move toward the RHS Directive (Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment), all affected electrical equipment sold in Europe after July 1, 2006, must be free of lead. Consequently, manufacturers throughout the world must prepare by immediately assessing what will be the results of such changes to both the supply chain and to customer demand. To help these affected suppliers, assemblers and retailers prepare for the inevitable ban on lead, IPC and SOLDERTEC, a division of Tin Technology, are sponsoring an International Conference on Lead-Free Electronics on June 10-13, 2003, in Brussels, Belgium. The conference, entitled "Towards Implementation of the RHS Directive," will assemble elite industry experts for a two-day technical conference and a variety of educational courses and workshops covering many specific lead free topics, such as: - Lead Free PCB Surface Finish and Component Coating - Reliability Issues for Lead Free Solders - Lead Free Alloys for HASL - Advanced Process Management for the Lead Free Reflow Process Companies will also be showcasing their lead free products and services. Several sponsorship activities are available to companies desiring to promote their participation and increase their visibility at this event. For more information about the conference and sponsorship opportunities, go to www.ipc.org/LFBrussels or contact Jean Hebeisen, IPC director of professional development, at +1 847-790-5338.Source: PCBnewsline
