LaBarge, Inc. (AMEX: LB) announced that it has earned ISO 13485:2003 certification at its Pittsburgh, Pa., manufacturing facility. ISO 13485:2003 is the internationally recognized standard for medical device development and manufacturing. ISO registrations acknowledge that their recipients meet internationally recognized quality standards. "Earning ISO 13485 certification strengthens LaBarge's ability to serve as a manufacturing partner to medical device manufacturers doing business all over the world," said Randy Buschling, chief operating officer. "This achievement demonstrates our commitment to maintaining world-class manufacturing and support processes that consistently meet our customers' needs." ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is a network of the national standards institutes of 157 countries coordinated in Geneva, Switzerland. ISO standards specify the requirements that products, services, processes, materials and systems must meet on world markets, as well as good conformity assessment practices. LaBarge's Pittsburgh facility received ISO 9001:2000 certification, which promotes the adoption of a process approach when developing, implementing and improving the effectiveness of a quality management system, in 2000. The ISO 13485:2003 standard is based on ISO 9001:2000, but is specifically directed for the design, development, production, installation and servicing of medical devices and related services.
