Asustek reportedly developing low-cost PCs

Asustek Computer is developing US$150-250 PCs without built-in hard disk drives (HDDs), following other vendors who plan to launch low-cost PCs in emerging markets, according to the Chinese-language Apple Daily. Asustek's low-cost PC development is expected to bear fruit by the first half of 2007, the paper said. In related news, Asustek's board of directors on October 2 approved NT$12 billion (US$362 million) worth of five-year unsecured convertible bonds (CBs). source: DigiTimes
