iSuppli adds automotive electronics analyst to research team

Oct 19, 2006

iSuppli Corp. is pleased to announce the addition of Richard Robinson, principal analyst, automotive electronics, to its team of analysts.

At iSuppli, Robinson will have primary responsibility for research and analysis of the burgeoning and increasingly complex automotive infotainment value chain, heading up the research firm's new Automotive Entertainment service.

"Infotainment, defined as the combination of information with entertainment, is revolutionizing the automotive business, bringing exciting new entertainment and information features to cars and spurring growth in the motor-vehicle electronics business," Robinson said. "I am very excited about the new Automotive Entertainment service, and I hope to build on iSuppli's  industry-leading reputation for providing great data - and putting it into action."

Robinson has extensive experience in the automotive electronics industry and is an expert in car navigation and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI). He has led interface-design breakthroughs, including the world's first production automotive interface using Macromedia Flash. Robinson also was a key HMI consultant on several award-winning OEM navigation systems for Honda and Acura.

Immediately before joining iSuppli, Robinson worked at Alpine Electronics in Europe, where he led the company's Advanced Research Projects group.

"My time at Alpine gave me the ideal opportunity to work with the best in the industry in a diverse range of roles," Robinson said. "I worked in areas including cutting-edge navigation, HMI and voice-interface development. I also led advanced research projects that examined exciting new technologies."

"For someone like me, working at iSuppli is a dream job; I enjoy studying leading-edge automotive technical developments - from silicon to services - and then investigating their market opportunities."

Robinson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Natal in Durban, South Africa.

He is based at iSuppli's European headquarters in the United Kingdom. Contact Robinson at rrobinson@isuppli.com
