Gou stresses Foxconn won't merge with Quanta

Terry Gou, chairman of Foxconn Electronics (the registered trade name of Hon Hai Precision Industry), yesterday dismissed widespread rumors that his company will merge with Quanta Computer.

Rumors have been circulating that Foxconn plans to acquire Quanta, with one recent report claiming that the acquisition could take place in early 2007.

However, in a talk at the celebration of Acer's 30th anniversary, Gou stressed that the rumors are groundless. Notebooks are not Foxconn's next goal, he said.
