BenQ announces consolidated revenue for August
Sep 07, 2006
BenQ yesterday announced its consolidated revenue for the month of August. The company's core business recorded sales of NT$ 16.0 billion, up 79% year-on-year. At the Taiwan parent company level, August revenue was NT$10.0 billion, up 9% year-on-year. "August revenue declined month-on-month mainly from reduced shipment of optical disc drives," according to Eric Ky Yu, BenQ's Senior Vice President of Finance and Spokesperson. Sales of LCD monitors were little changed compared with July. BenQ-brand monitors continued solid performance in August; sales of BenQ LCD monitors ranked No. 2 in China in second quarter of 2006. "We are pleased see the BenQ brand doing nicely in August," continued Mr. Yu. Sales of projectors were flat month over month due to seasonal weakness. Handset products closed the month flat compared with July. Looking ahead to September, "we expect BenQ's main product lines such as LCD monitors, projectors and handsets to begin benefiting from a recovery in demand," added Mr. Yu.
