SEC expands Amkor probe
Sep 19, 2006
Amkor Technology Inc., a semiconductor assembly and test services company, said the Securities and Exchange Commission requested documents related to its stock-option practices. The action is part of an expanded SEC investigation into the company, Chandler, Ariz.-based Amkor said in a regulatory filing. Amkor last year disclosed a formal SEC probe into the trading of company securities by certain individuals, including company insiders and their associates. Amkor said it plans to cooperate with the SEC. The company said its board created a special committee in July to review Amkor's stock-option practices and told the SEC of its efforts. Last month, the company said it expects to restate financial statements from fiscal 1998 through the first quarter of 2006 to correct errors related to accounting for stock-based compensation expense.
