Hon Hai is most profitable Taiwan firm in Mainland China

The top-three most-profitable Taiwanese firms in mainland China in the first half of this year, in descending order, were Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Walsin Lihwa Corp., and Nan Ya Plastics Corporation, according to a survey conducted by the President Capital Management Co. Hon Hai generated NT$11.3 billion (US$342.42 million at US$1:NT$33) from investing in the mainland in the first half of this year. But in terms of its China-related contribution to the overall earnings-per-share, Catcher Technology Co. ranked first with an EPS from its China operations reaching NT$6.23 (US$0.188) in the first half, followed by Chi Cheng Enterprise Co. with NT$3.58 (US$0.108). In addition to Hon Hai, Walsin Lihwa and Nan Ya, others who made it into the list of the top-five most-profitable firms in China were Q-Run Technology Corp. and Lite-On IT Corp. All of these firms belong to well-known business groups. The profits realized from investing in China in the first half of this year by Hon Hai, Walsin Lihwa, Nan Ya, Q-Run, and Lite-On IT, in descending order, came to NT$11.3 billion (US$342.42 million), NT$2.258 billion (US$68.42 million), NT$1.435 billion (US$43.48 million), NT$1.037 billion (US$31.42 million), and NT$798 million (US$24.18 million), respectively. Of the top-30 most-profitable Taiwanese firms in China, only eight saw the proportion from mainland profits to overall EPS reach 50% in the first half of this year, including Lite-On IT, Eternal Chemical Co., Taiwan Green Point Enterprises Co., HannStar Board Corp., Universal Scientific Industrial Co., Compeq Manufacturing Co., Grand Pacific Petrochemical Corp., and Audix Corp. The firms that saw over NT$2 in EPS from their China operations in the first half of this year, in descending order, were Catcher with NT$6.23 (US$0.188), Chi Cheng Enterprise Co. with NT$3.58 (US$0.108), Taiwan Surface Mounting Technology Corp. with NT$2.69 (US$0.08), Wah Hong Industrial Corp. with NT$2.36 (US$0.07), and Hon Hai Precision with NT$2.27 (US$0.068). source & copyright: CENS
