Aqueous, Kyzen and Transition Automation all win Global Technology Award
Sep 28, 2006
The awards were presented during a Wednesday, September 27, 2006 ceremony that took place at the Sofitel Hotel during the Assembly Technology Exposition. Aqueous Technologies Corporation has been awarded a Global Technology Award in the category of Cleaning Equipment for its innovative Self-cleaning Wash Tank. The self-cleaning wash tank has been designed with no horizontal floor surfaces, preventing solder paste from building up on the tank's floor. Additionally, it is equipped with multiple funnels mounted on the tank's floor. The end of the funnels feeds into a small diameter metal tube. Water is pumped through the tube at the rate of 15 ft per second, briskly sweeping solder paste into a specially designed filter housing where the solder paste is captured. With the introduction of the self-cleaning wash tank, neither an operator nor a maintenance technician is required to scrape solder paste from the bottom of a wash tank. In addition to preventing solder paste from entering a waste stream, the self-cleaning wash tank completely eliminates any direct contact between an operator and hazardous solder paste. The self-cleaning wash tank is currently available in Aqueous Technologies' SonicOne G3 automatic stencil cleaning systems and will be introduced on Aqueous Technologies' semi-automatic models throughout 2006. Kyzen Corporation has been awarded a Global Technology Award in the category of Cleaning Materials for Micronox MX2188 Low COD Aqueous Precision Cleaner. MX2188 is a powerful aqueous cleaning solution, designed to meet the latest challenges of lead-free, water-soluble fluxes while meeting RoHS and environmental constraints. The cleaner is intended for use at very low concentrations while cleaning tight pitch and low standoff devices. Whether batch, in-line or immersion, MX 2188 is perfect to help meet cleaning needs with minimal environmental impact and low cost of ownership. Besides being low COD, the cleaner is low VOC, non-flammable, non-corrosive, recyclable, multi-metal safe, and features no HAPs, CFCs and SARA 313s. Additionally, MX2188 features low-use cost and has a long bath life. Transition Automation, Inc. has been awarded a Global Technology Award in the category of Assembly Tools for its innovative Permalex Paste Manager Self-Cleaning Squeegee System. Permalex Paste Manager is an exciting and innovative self-cleaning squeegee system that offers an improvement to SMT printing lines. This new active wiper system is integrated directly into the squeegee holder and is designed to exceed the industry challenge of eliminating the conundrum associated with solder paste sticking to squeegees. This unique adaptation of the original dual squeegee system is designed to wipe away solder paste after each stroke, eliminating interruptions in the printing cycle and creating an increase in the uniformity of the printing process. As an additional benefit to users, the system is capable of cleaning lead-free solder paste. The Permalex Paste Manager Self-Cleaning Squeegee System is offered across the full Permalex metal squeegee product line and is easily adaptable to any dual squeegee platform. There is no additional hook ups or machine interfacing required because the system is passively actuated by the motion of the squeegee holder. Little or no training is involved with the installation of this system, saving both time and money. The Global Technology Awards program is sponsored by Global SMT & Packaging Magazine, and is an annual celebration of product excellence in semiconductor packaging and electronics assembly. Premier products based on the finest examples of creative advancement in technology in 19 key areas, including Cleaning Materials, are chosen by a distinguished panel of industry experts.
