Quanta cuts notebook shipment goal for 2006

Aug 03, 2006

Quanta Computer has adjusted its notebook shipment goal downwards to 21 million units from an original 24 million for 2006 because demand has not been as strong as expected, and clients have become more conservative, according to company president Michael Wang, as cited by the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN).

According to the EDN report, however, Wang also stated that the world's number-one notebook maker remains optimistic about the second half of the year. Quanta is anticipating 15-20% sequential growth in shipments for the third quarter and 20% sequential growth in the fourth quarter.  Quanta's chief competitor Compal Electronics, said its shipment goal for the year remains at 15 million units, according to the paper.
