NanYa to increase investments in Kunshan
Aug 21, 2006
Confident of bright prospects of the global market for electronic materials in the next three years, Nan Ya Plastics Corp., a subsidiary of the Formosa Plastics Group, will increase its investments in Kunshan of Jiangsu Province, mainland China by NT$20 billion (US$609.75 million) to kick off the third-phase of the electronic material vertical-integration. The proposed plan will include the construction of a third plant for fiberglass filaments with an annual output reaching 40,000 metric tons, and a third plant for fiberglass fabrics with a monthly production capacity reaching nine-million meters. With the expanded production, Nan Ya will be able to provide these products to the market, rather than only focus on supplying its downstream subsidiaries, indicating the company's determination to tap into the Asian electronic material market. Nan Ya said it will complete a second-phase expansion in Kunshan in the second quarter of 2007 when its second plant for copper clad laminate (CCL) begins mass production.
