Huawei confirms orders from Vodafone

Aug 21, 2006

Replying to an August 16 report, Huawei Technologies Taiwan confirmed its contract agreement with Vodafone, but refused to comment on details of the orders, citing customer confidentiality.

Vodafone will launch its V710 third-generation (3G) mobile phone on its own, Huawei said, adding that it cannot confirm the estimated launch date of the V710 for Taiwan in late December 2006. Huawei is not allowed to make this sort of comments, the company pointed out.

In addition to customized models of 3G phones, which are manufactured for OEM/ODM customers, Huawei will soon have two or three self-developed own-brand WCDMA 3G models to be marketed through local telecom carriers in Taiwan from the second half of this year, the company noted. The first model is expected to be available by late September.
