Inventec denies getting Dell notebook orders

Taiwan-based Inventec has denied rumors that it has picked up notebook orders from Dell while industry players also expressed doubt about the reports, according to the Chinese-language Apple Daily.

The rumor started after a Merrill Lynch research report suggested that Inventec might gain notebook OEM orders from Dell. Industry players commented that Dell would not look for more than four OEM partners for notebook production. An additional partner would mean that one of the existing four may lose orders, which is unlikely given the present situation, the players noted.
