ECS, Uniwill merger approved, Unwill vice chairman to lead new NB crew

David Chen, the vice chairman of Uniwill Computer, will be appointed president of a new notebook division at Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS), whose board of directors approved, on August 28, the company's Uniwill acquisition. The takeover is scheduled to take effect on December 1, 2006, and Chen will start leading both sides' integrated notebook team from that date.

ECS' Uniwill acquisition was announced on July 10, with the transaction involving an estimated NT$3.52 billion (US$109 million).
