Taiwan Hon Hai Q2 profit up 43% on better demand

Taiwan's top electronics components maker, Hon Hai, posted a 43% rise in second-quarter profit on Thursday, fuelled by growing demand for consumer electronic products, such as mobile phones. Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. earned a net profit of T$12.77 billion ($388 million) for the quarter ended June, according to Reuters calculations based on the firm's report of a first-half profit of T$22.75 billion. Second-quarter profit was higher than a net profit of T$8.94 billion a year earlier and up from T$9.98 billion in the first quarter.
