Handset PCB demand to bottom out in August
Jul 03, 2006
Handset printed circuit board (PCB) demand will bottom out starting from mid-August, later than the previously forecasted second quarter, as major handset makers such as Motorola and Compal Communications adjusted inventory for their entry-level mobile phones in the second quarter with Nokia to follow suit in the third quarter, according to the Chinese-language Commercial Times. Shipments for new handset models will start from mid-September, pushing demand for handset PCB to pick up by August, the paper said. Before the pick up in demand, shipments for handset PCBs will decline 5% sequentially in the third quarter, handset PCB makers were quoted as saying. source: DigiTimes
