Second-tier notebook makers face tougher time retaining shipment growth

Taiwan's second-tier notebook manufacturers, including Arima Computer and Uniwill, may experience considerable difficulty maintaining growth in shipments this year, according to sources in the Taiwan notebook industry. Due to a greater concentration of notebook orders at the top-four Taiwan notebook makers - Quanta Computer, Compal Electronics, Wistron and Inventec - the second-tier players may hardly benefit from a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20% in the worldwide notebook market and fail to top annual notebook shipments of two million units, indicated the sources.
