LG Electronics achieves 190.5 Billion Won of operating profits in 2Q

At an 2006 second-quarter investors relation held at the Korea Stock Exchange yesterday, LG Electronics (CEO Kim Ssang-Soo, www.lge.com) reported second-quarter revenues of 5.7962 trillion won or ($6.089 billion) - exports of 4.2122 trillion won ($4.425 billion) and domestic sales of 1.584 trillion won ($1.664 billion) - and operating profits of 190.5 billion won ($200.13 million).

With both revenues and operating profits equal to the previous quarter's level, revenues were up 3.2% from a quarter earlier, buoyed by robust sales of premium consumer electronics appliances and digital televisions, while operating profits skyrocketed 32.4%, exceeding the previous market expectations. The company's revenues and operating profits for the first half of 2006 recorded 11.596 trillion won ($12.182 billion) and 381.1 billion won ($400.36 million), respectively.
