Teijin and Asahi have announced they are to form a 67:33 joint venture in PPTA films production. Ashai has been producing these types of polyamide films since 1999. Teijin is well experienced in the production of Twaron polyamide fibres. The joint venture company will have initial turnover of around Yen 2 bn ($16.7 M) increasing to Yen 4 bn ($33.4 M) by 2007. PPTA films are non-halogenated and heat-resistant making them ideal for use by the electronics industry in the manufacture of insulating films and printed circuit boards.
