Siemens places HomePlug orders to Askey, sources say

Taiwan-based broadband equipment maker Askey Computer has closed a deal with Siemens to supply HomePlug devices, according to sources.Askey declined to comment on the news, citing client confidentiality.Sources said that Askey will use chip solutions from US-based Intellon for the HomePlug gateways.The Taiwanese company has been supplying ADSL modems to Siemens subsidiary Efficient Networks since last year.The HomePlug gateway builds a WLAN in a home or SOHO environment through existing electrical lines. It can work as a complement to WLAN technology in a bedroom or garage where wireless connectivity does not reach.Source: DigiTimes
