May 08, 2006
Due to sliding notebook gross margins, system OEMs such as Wistron and Quanta Computer are eyeing other segments, according to the Chinese-language Apple Daily. Wistron expects non-notebook business to contribute 30% of its sales in 2006, with portable devices to contribute 2-3% of its overall sales, while Quanta Computer expects 5% of its sales to come from the non-notebook segment this year, the paper said. Wistron has earned orders for global positioning system (GPS) devices from Japan and South Korea, the paper added. source: DigiTimes
