Winbond maintains revenue growth momentum in April

After swinging to profits in the first quarter of 2006, Winbond Electronics maintained revenue growth momentum in April, with its second consecutive month of sales growth. Winbond reported April revenues of NT$2.36 billion, up 12.2% sequentially and 23.6% on year. Winbond attributed the growth to an increased contribution from the memory segment amid ramping capacity at its 12-inch fab in Taichung. Although overall revenues from its logic IC production was flat on month, some segments did see some gradual revenue growth, including speech ICs, chip coders and mobile handset backend ICs, the company stated.
