Successful electronica & ProductronicaChina 2006 sets new records

Healthy growth in the number of attendees and exhibitors for electronica & ProductronicaChina 2006

Exhibitors express high level of satisfaction and plan to attend future events

First "China Electronics Summit" is held with CEOs from 12 leading electronics companies.

On its fifth anniversary, electronica & ProductronicaChina presented itself from 21 through 23 March 2006 in Shanghai with further growth in the number of exhibitors and visitors. This trade show, which has advanced to become one of the leading international events for the electronics community in China, took place on 17,000 sqm of floor space at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) and was accompanied by a comprehensive program of seminars and special events.

With 33,500 attendees, electronica & ProductronicaChina 2006 and the co-located SEMICON China 2006 event registered a 5-percent increase. The number of exhibitors rose by 8 percent to 332 companies. These positive numbers reflect the growing interest that foreign companies are taking in the Chinese market and underscore the continuing importance of trade shows as business and networking platforms.

The dynamic Chinese market and its potential for future sales was clearly the biggest draw for exhibitors from outside China. They used the event to meet agents and dealers in China and Asia, to make direct sales, and to create awareness for their companies and brands. 

Positive Response from Exhibitors
Haruhiko Kondo, manager of the Business Administration Department, in OMRON Corporation's Strategy Planning Division, said: "electronica & ProductronicaChina 2006 is a professional trade fair in terms of the quantity and quality of trade visitors. Our main motives for participating in electronica & ProductronicaChina this year are to generate new business contacts and create awareness of our brand. Now we are satisfied with the result of this 3-day show."

Numerous long-standing exhibitors said that electronica & ProductronicaChina continues to give them a unique opportunity to gain exposure on the Chinese market. Norbert Pluschke, director of Semikron's Competence Centre Asia, comments: "As a very successful show, electronica & ProductronicaChina 2006 gathers the competitors from the electronics industry. This year, Semikron brought our leading power module to our stand, which attracted a large number of trade visitors. This is the fifth time that Semikron has participated in electronica & ProductronicaChina, and we will definitely participate again next year."

Andy Lau, general manager of Komax (Shanghai) Co., Ltd, particularly emphasized the high caliber of the attending public: "It has been a very worthwhile experience this year. The quality of the trade visitors is very high. We met all of our clients here. Besides that, we also met lots of new clients that were difficult to approach before. We will continue our participation in electronica & ProductronicaChina."

Zeng Qing Xun, sales coordinator for Truly Semiconductors Limited also expressed his company's interest in participating again: "We have already started to prepare the exhibition plan to participate in electronica & ProductronicaChina 2007."

Excellent Accompanying Events
A panel discussion with 12 top representatives from leading electronics companies such as Tyco Electronics, Omron, or Infineon was held within the framework of the first "China Electronics Summit" and attracted an audience of approximately 100 industry professionals and media representatives. The other events accompanying the trade show were also well attended. They covered hot topics presented by national and international speakers from leading companies, associations, institutions, media representatives, and universities. Additional forums such as PCIM China and FID China covered such topics as power electronics, display technologies, wireless, and environmental protection.

The LASER World of Photonics China and SEMICON China events were held in conjunction with this trade show.

The next electronica & ProductronicaChina trade show will be held from 21 through 23 March 2007 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.
