Apr 20, 2006
LaBarge, Inc. has signed a multiyear agreement with Eclipse Aviation Corporation to provide wiring harnesses for the Eclipse 500, a new aircraft known as a very light jet (VLJ). Initial orders under the agreement total approximately $10 million. LaBarge will build more than 80 different complex wiring harnesses that function in electronic systems related to fuel monitoring, landing gear, engine and cockpit functionality among others. Production on these initial orders is beginning immediately at LaBarge's Berryville, Ark., and Joplin, Mo. facilities and is expected to continue through early to mid-2007. Suitable for up to six occupants, the Eclipse 500 is a dynamic, new VLJ designed and manufactured by Eclipse Aviation. It was designed to provide aircraft owners with the performance and safety of a twin-engine, jet-powered airplane at a fraction of the price. To date Eclipse has received orders for more than 2,400 Eclipse 500s. "We are thrilled to be selected by Eclipse Aviation as a new manufacturing partner and are prepared to support this exciting new aircraft program through our expertise in manufacturing high-reliability cable assemblies and wiring harnesses," said Craig LaBarge, chief executive officer and president.
