Quanta grabs majority of Acer contract orders for notebooks

Quanta Computer has secured Acer's contract manufacturing orders for 4-5 million notebooks for 2006, when the notebook vendor projects its worldwide shipments will reach 11 million units, according to the Chinese-language Commercial Times.

In addition, Compal Electronics and Wistron, respectively, will supply 2-3 million notebooks to Acer this year, indicated the paper. Inventec, which became one of Acer's notebook contract suppliers in 2006, will supply models with 19-inch and larger displays.
