Compal Communications ups handset shipment goal

Compal Communications yesterday revised its shipment goal for 2006 to 75 million units, up from an original 60 million units, after reporting strong sequential growth in both shipments and average selling prices (ASPs) for the first quarter of this year, according to the Chinese-language Apple Daily. Compal shipped 14.9 million handsets in the first quarter, compared to 11.8 million units in the previous quarter, while the ASP was NT$1,100 (US$34.3) in the first quarter, up 12% from NT$980 in the previous quarter, according to the paper
