Mobile-phone revenue set to decline in 2006, iSuppli predicts

Jan 12, 2006

Due to slowing growth and falling prices, worldwide mobile-phone market revenue is expected to decline in 2006, and will not recover to the peak level of 2005 until 2009, iSuppli Corp. predicts.

Worldwide factory revenue from production of mobile phones will decline to $109.7 billion in 2006, down 4.7 percent from $115.1 billion in 2005, which represented the historic high for the market.

Revenue growth will resume in the subsequent years, but only by single-digit percentages. By 2009, revenue will recover back to its 2005 level of $115.1 billion.
